“Thanks” for “The Runaway Slave”

We like to get feedback from our performances here at Christian Voices – whether long or short.  Here’s a short note from Paul Burson who saw us perform “The Runaway Slave” at Ninfield Mehodist Church Hall.

Subject: Thanks / Ninfield

Hello Alan,

Just a short line to say very many thanks to everyone of Christian Voices for the inspirational afternoon at Ninfield on Saturday. It was great to welcome you & have you with us once again.

Very best wishes

Comment about Christian Voices

We’ve received another wonderful bit of feedback on “The Runaway Slave“.  Barry Turnwell saw The Christian Voices performance at Christchurch Methodist Church.

Dear Alan,

Just a note to thank you and the team for the excellent presentation on Wednesday. It was well presented and Dave and Natasha are to be commended for coming along when they had just moved house! I hope that the other venues go as well and that you raise a good sum for the charity. Thank you again and we look forward to a return visit. Please pass on our thanks to the whole team. Every blessing

Barry

Runaway Slave – Audience Reaction

We’re always happy at Christian Voices to receive reports from our audiences on our productions and The Runaway Slave is no exception.

Thanks to Sandy Willard who wrote to us with this review from the performance at Christchurch Methodist Church.

Dear Alan,
Congratulations Christian Voices for your performance of The Runaway Slave.

As always it was brilliantly performed, and as you know, I really appreciate the simplicity of it all. Small cast, very few props, no background scenery, and yet the message comes through loud and clear.

Well done Alan for the excellent script and well done, too, to Dave Chamberlin for the words to each of the songs, verifying the acts performed.

I particularly enjoy seeing youngsters included in your cast – Jamie and Millie did so well and hopefully their taking part, as they do, will be helpful to them for a good understanding of our Lord’s work.

The thing that will remain with me, from this performance, were Philemon’s
words, towards the end, when he said, to the effect, that he had to forgive Onesimus, as our Lord had forgiven him for his sins. Obviously I can’t quote the actual words now, but they hit home and again I thought “well done Christian Voices, message received”!!

I very much look forward to hearing about your next performance, and I
send good wishes for the rest of your Runaway Slave performances.

Best wishes, it was very good to see you, Sandy x

Bexhill Observer: Drama group support for Dragonflies: 15/May/2015

Malachi-Dragonflies

Christian Voices are proud to announce that through the generosity of our audiences for Malachi were we able to raise £510 for the Dragonflies charity.

This wonderful cause works with pre-bereaved and bereaved local children and young people (and their families) at a these often emotional and difficult times in their lives.

“…a free service to local families at a time when they need us most…” – Stephanie Edmonds, Operations Director, Fellowship of St. Nicholas (about Dragonflies)

A big thank you to all those who attended any of the six Malachi performances and donated to this worthy cause.
We enjoyed putting on the play, which has a challenging set of topics at its heart.
We have now moved on to our next play (“The Runaway Slave“) but this isn’t the last we’ll hear from Malachi
and that is as it should be too, I think!

No toothbrush or PJs to pack for this Runaway

Christian Voices are moving on to the next play, perhaps running away from the learned teachings of Malachi?

Surely not! Not these lovely people?

Malachi’s been quiet … until now!

Over the summer we’ve taken a short break but now we’re ready to get going once more!

Malachi was a great success in the Spring and there will be more on that in a later post.

We have already been busy posting information about this challenging play.  We’ve put up a dedicated page, the programme and cast list not to mention loads (and we mean it) of photos of both the performances and the after show party.

Malachi is the last book of the Old Testament but not by any stretch the last of Christian Voices!  Later this month we will be announcing our next play and start walking the now well trod path (16th production!) to what we hope will be a just as enjoyable production as the last proved to be!

Review: “Roll on the next one”

It seems that even Christian Voices have developed some staunch “groupies“.  Vanessa Wood and John Mewett seem to have been a constant presence over the years and have been kind enough to review previous performances.

Malachi” doesn’t escape their critical eye and so here is their review – thank you John and Vanessa. Continue reading

Malachi: Did the message get out there?

Well, the final curtain has fallen on another Christian Voices production.

Malachi has done his bit to get the People of God back onto the path shown by the Law of God and now we move on, with some important lessons learnt.

We’ve enjoyed putting on “Malachi” and hope our audiences enjoyed the play and the music.
A big thank you to all our venues and their kind staff, clergy and ministers.

We have lots of content to share in the coming weeks but for now you’ll just have to cope with us grinning at you after the final performance.

Malachi had a day off

Christian Voices are half way through their tour with the play “Malachi“.

It seemed prudent at this juncture to give the cast, musicians and singers a wee break from the action so on Wednesday we all spent a little time to ourselves.

But don’t fear Malachi is back tonight (Thursday, 16/Apr/2015)!

How can you bring a wayward community back to God’s chosen path?

Can we take lessons today from a story from so long ago?

Come and make your own mind up…

  • Thursday, 16th April, 7:45pm, Calvert Methodist Church, Hastings
  • Sunday, 19th April, 9:45am, St. Peter’s Community Centre, Bexhill
