It seems that even Christian Voices have developed some staunch “groupies“.  Vanessa Wood and John Mewett seem to have been a constant presence over the years and have been kind enough to review previous performances.

Malachi” doesn’t escape their critical eye and so here is their review – thank you John and Vanessa.

The church

We both think that this is possibly the best venue for acoustics, comfort and atmosphere to watch a Christian Voices play.

The play

A very interesting play, quite different to the others, a bit more gritty and in your face. The Group has such a wealth of acting styles which means you have such a depth of characters. It was really nice to see it done in modern clothing, and made us wonder if some stories are worth rewriting up to date too.

The cast

We love the explosiveness of Nick Cearns’s stage arrivals, As for the rest of the cast, I do sit there wondering “what are their day jobs?, how do they fit in to normal life?”. They all have such presence on the stage that I can’t imagine it doesn’t spill into their everyday lives.

The music/songs were outstanding. The “drums” was done really well, almost replacing the real thing but never completely. I loved song three but thought they all had a bit of a different edge/sound to them. Really nice to have the bass guitar back as it just adds another layer. Sound levels were spot on for hearing the vocals and each musical component.
