No Room At The Inn – Twice!

Christian Voices are very happy to report an excellent reception for their new Christmas themed play “No Room At the Inn“, script and songs written by Alan Young.

On the 15th December 2013, at St. Peter’s Community Centre and Ninfield Methodist Church, we performed the entirely new piece.  The play reflects on the thoughts guests and staff at the last inn that Mary and Joseph try in their desperate search for a room.

We really enjoyed rehearsing and performing the play and were thrilled with the audience’s reaction to our story.  Attached is the service sheet from the St. Peter’s performance.

If you saw either production, drop us a note and let us know what you thought!

Christmas Story from a new angle

Christian Voices are proud to announce that next Sunday (15th December) they will be performing their next play.

There are many ways of telling the wonderful story of The Nativity and we hope that our short play hits on a new and interesting slant on this glorious story.

All are invited:

  • 9:45am St. Peter’s Community Centre, Bexhill

We truly hope you can make it and help us celebrate the birth of Our Lord!

The lost son: found…

We hope that in the turmoil of the world at present some of you were lucky enough this summer to travel abroad.

Some from Christian Voices were able to get to the ancient island of Cyprus.
Here there are huge signs and memories of the early Church, you are even able to walk in the footsteps of The New Testament.

Up in the Troodos Mountains, hidden away but still a huge draw for tourists, lies the Kykkos Monastry.
This is a truly beautiful building, perched on the edge of a mountain. It isn’t the easiest building to wind your way around with many steps and slopes.
However We did find the visit well worth the journey inland.

For example, here is a mozaic of a father greeting a son.

The phrase above reads:

Η Παραβολή Τον ασωτυ γιο

This is thus a depiction of one of the scenes from the Parable of the Prodigal Son, or Lost Son.
A beautiful piece of art, which obviously reminded us of our own play, Lost and Found.

If you’ve come across any works of religious art you’d like to share, just let us know.
Indeed, if you can explain the red ribbon tied between the tree and the house in the background, we’d like to hear it.

Christian Voices gearing up once more…

Well,

As summer draws to a close we at Christian Voices find ourselves turning away from the excellent reception we got for our play “The Wedding at Cana” and forward to our next endeavour.

The play is written and the cast filled so now it’s onwards and upwards.
We are once again excited to be producing a new work, the subject of which will be revealed soon.

Hope to see you all nearer Christmas.

More news about the play, the venues and dates to follow in the coming weeks.

Thanks from Homecall of Bexhill

Christian Voices recently received this kind letter of thanks from Maureen Daley, Scheme Manager for Homecall.

Homecall were the charity we selected to raise funds for as part of our recent run performing The Wedding at Cana.

Homecall support blind and partially sighted people in the Bexhill region.  The emphasis is on human contact and simply relieving the isolation many visually impaired people suffer.

In their own words:

Homecall was established in February 1985 to recruit, select and train volunteers (visitors) for a home visiting scheme that would help the substantially visually impaired maintain their independence, whilst relieving their social isolation. Home visiting is a very important contribution to community care. We are NOT a home help service.

Christian Voices were very pleased to have raised £400 for Homecall.

If you want to know more about their excellent work, please visit their website, www.homecall.uk.com.
