We recently asked Dave Chamberlin, who has written most of the songs for Christian Voices, how he goes about the process of writing the inter-act pieces.
🎸🎶
First I read the whole script, then re-read the act that I am going to follow with the song.
Then I pick a line from the act that I can use as a hook – there are usually several to choose from.
This will inspire either a verse or chorus in my head.
Then I’m drawn to either piano or guitar and start writing, using the act and words within it to complete the verses/chorus.
📢Dave makes the process of songwriting sound much simpler than it actually is. Most of us can only sit back and appreciate the end result!🎵
